I had a 6:30 AM flight to a spa in Miami this morning with an upgrade into first class. Only one problem, my fab, going- to-South Beach pedi and I forgot to wake up. “No prob, take a later flight,” you say. Great idea, except it’s Memorial Day Weekend and “that ain’t happening” according to JoAnn at the Continental Elite desk.
I was really looking forward to a healthy lifestyle kick-off weekend. Delicious, well-balanced meals. Exercise classes even if I couldn’t really follow along. Naps. Reading the entire New York Times with a couple of cups of cafe con leche.
Now what? Do I go to the office? Catch up on the chores around the house that have stacked up over the past few weeks? Take the train into the City for the day? Lie in bed all day and read my new beach book? Decisions. Decisions.
I know! Instead of having the weekend I planned to have on Miami Beach; I’ll just have it at the Jersey Shore.
My first stop this morning was to Whole Foods for the organic fruits and veggies to make yummy, healthful meals and to get essential oils to make my apartment smell like a spa. Next stop…pick up my bike that was just rebuilt. Back home for a little nap and then off to the gym for a little cardio. Ending the evening with a delicious, spa-inspired dinner.
Things don’t always go as planned, but that’s okay if you’re willing to have a “Plan B.” As I work toward Base Camp, I’m sure there will be many, many times a “Plan B” and probably a “Plan C” and “Plan D” will be needed. As good old Epictetus said, “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”
Training Summary
Physical Activity: Cardio Yeah! Nutrition: Excellent Very balanced day…but, need more snacks. Hydration: 48 oz. Need to better tomorrow. Sleep: 6.5 hours Need more…but, I really was trying to make the flight!

Aww… That stinks. But Plan B sounds pretty good too. Back away from the office!
You are my hero! That plan B sounds great and I’d love to join you for one someday soon!
Half-way through Spa Jersey Shore weekend and having a great time!
